Project ‘SYD’ As part of my ongoing ‘Project SYD’ I’m putting a plus sized test mule together to try out a few things. The Sonder Transmitter I bought (see here for full review) is excellent value but does suffer from some rather chunky wheels. Hence my call to friend-of-the-blog, and long term titanium hardtail fan,
I’ve had a bit of a project in mind for a while now; a hardtail that takes advantage of the new 3″ size ‘half fat’ tyres we’re seeing. A semi fat 29’er is perhaps a step too far though, I still want the darned thing to go around corners! So how about a 27.5″ plus
Someone pinged me recently with a question about costs – which made me realised that I’ve not updated the FAQ’s for years! Handily, another reader was happy to share his recent round of quotes after he approached Titan, Waltly and XACD with details of his latest project. I have to say the results were surprising… ‘Mr X’
It’s been a little while since I took a look at Stanton bikes which is surprising as they’re well known for their progressive UK designed hardtails. A picture of the latest Titanium Switchback MK II in a recent magazine was enough for me to want to take a closer look though – nu skool hardtail?
Slack-curious? You may well have spotted that mountain bike head angles are getting slacker. Modern ‘enduro’ bikes are headed towards 65 degrees which used to be reserved for full on downhill bikes until just recently. Should you go slack in your new frame or play it safe with some less aggressive angles? Can you even tell the difference
